Context
Copy places a selection on the clipboard without deleting the original. Select the text, cells, files or objects first. Terminal copy has a separate context: Control+C may interrupt a running command instead of copying, so use the terminal-specific recorded binding.
Use the binding for your application and platform. Custom keymaps, keyboard layouts and intercepted system keys can change the behavior you observe.
Practical checks
- Select only the material you intend to copy.
- In a terminal, consult the terminal row rather than a desktop editing row.
- Clipboard managers may retain sensitive copied content.
