KeyShortcuts

Free Keyboard Shortcut & Digital Skills Resources

Free keyboard shortcut references and learning tools for everyday computer skills. No subscription is required for basic use. Choose a path below, use the references during a real task, and check each page's evidence labels.

Where to start

For students

Start with copy, paste, find and undo, then practice screenshots and spreadsheet navigation during your coursework. These free references work alongside your class materials.

Computer literacy classes

Teach the operating system first: window management, file navigation and the screenshot shortcut.

For job seekers and workforce training

Practice everyday tasks: navigating a computer, editing a document, updating a spreadsheet and using email or meeting software. Shortcuts can support office-software fluency; they are not a qualification or a promise of employment.

Switching computers

Use a directional guide when moving between Windows and Mac, then compare reviewed app-specific mappings. Cmd is not simply Ctrl renamed. Unsupported or unreviewed mappings remain labeled rather than guessed.

For developers

Keep editor and terminal references nearby. The free, no-key API and eight-tool remote MCP server expose platform scope, canonical links and record-level source and verification metadata. Basic API access is limited to 60 requests per minute per IP.

Personalized learning

Build a free stack for your operating system and up to 12 apps. Save it on your device, practice, mark learned commands and download a free personalized PDF. Local learning progress stays on that device; no subscription is required for the core tools.

A five-minute practice exercise

  1. Pick one app you used today and write down three actions you did with the mouse.
  2. Look up each action on its guide page and read the key, platform scope and review status.
  3. Try each command five times during a real task. Do not memorize a list in advance.
  4. Add the three commands to My Shortcut Stack, then test yourself with the quiz tomorrow.

Reading review status

Verified means that individual key binding was checked against its listed source on its review date. Needs-verification means it is a recorded entry that has not been reviewed yet: try it safely and confirm with the app's own help before teaching it as fact.

For educators and libraries

Educators and librarians can link students and patrons directly to the free online references, stack builder and practice tools. Choose a few tasks from your own lesson, demonstrate them in the learner's actual app and operating system, and check each binding's source and review status. KeyShortcuts is an independent reference, not a school partner, accredited course or assessment provider.

Linking to the free website does not grant permission to redistribute paid PDF collections. Check the applicable purchase terms before copying or distributing a paid product; do not assume a classroom or organization license.

Library patron shortcut guide

Need expanded classroom printing rights for approved paid materials? Compare the School license in Shop; existing free resources and their permitted printing remain free.

Free tools and optional paid collections

The core references, My Shortcut Stack, quizzes and free generated PDFs remain free. Optional premium PDF collections offer separately prepared printable packs starting at $4; the Complete Bundle is $9. Buying a pack is not required to use the learning tools.
