Context
Find usually searches the current page or document, not the entire computer. Editors may also have separate commands for workspace search, symbol search and replacement. A page may contain collapsed or unloaded material that an in-page search cannot see.
Use the binding for your application and platform. Custom keymaps, keyboard layouts and intercepted system keys can change the behavior you observe.
Practical checks
- Focus the page or document you want to search.
- Distinguish Find from Find and Replace.
- Use the app's broader search when the current document has no match.
