Context
A new window is separate from a new tab or a new document. Chrome's ordinary new window shares the existing browsing profile; it is not an incognito session. Editors may use a different combination to create a window. Keep the app and mode explicit instead of inferring a cross-platform equivalent.
Use the binding for your application and platform. Custom keymaps, keyboard layouts and intercepted system keys can change the behavior you observe.
Practical checks
- Focus the app that should create the window.
- Use the separate private-window command for private browsing.
- Distinguish a new window from a blank document.
