Context
Redo restores an operation after Undo when the application still retains it. Some applications also use the same command to repeat an operation. A new edit can discard the redo history. Windows, macOS and individual Office applications do not all use the same modifiers, so read the app-specific row.
Use the binding for your application and platform. Custom keymaps, keyboard layouts and intercepted system keys can change the behavior you observe.
Practical checks
- Check that an undoable operation was reversed first.
- Inspect each restored change rather than repeating blindly.
- Do not treat Redo and Repeat as identical in every app.
