How to Switch Between Windows of the Same App on Mac
Use the Mac keyboard shortcut that cycles through multiple windows belonging to the current application.
Quick answer
Press Command+` (the grave accent key, usually above Tab) to cycle through open windows of the current Mac app. Hold Command and press ` repeatedly to move through the windows; release Command when the window you want is highlighted.

How the shortcut works
Command+Tab changes the active application, but it does not always solve the common “I have three Finder or browser windows open” problem. Command+` stays within the current app and rotates through that app’s windows.
The key is a grave accent, not an apostrophe. It is typically the key immediately above Tab and to the left of the number 1 key. On some keyboard layouts the physical key or shortcut can differ, so confirm the command under the app’s Window menu if needed.
Helpful tips
- Keep holding Command while tapping the grave accent key to preview and select another window without reaching for the trackpad.
- If another app or utility has claimed the shortcut, open System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts and check keyboard or app shortcuts.
